This post is inspired by a movie The Help, which happens to be my favorite movie now. I love how the story went and the way characters portrayed their roles very well. If you haven't watched it yet, watch it! You won't regret spending two hours and twenty-six minutes for watching that. The main idea of the film is the discrimination experienced by the maids, being abused by their lords.
My family never looked for a maid that'd do all the chores (and when I say all, everything from waking her masters to changing a baby's diaper). My brother had a maid when he was still a baby. I think that was unfair because during the time, Stephen and I were the only angels of our parents because I'm older than him. Or maybe, it's just that my parents wanted to give more attention on me. Okay, back to the topic, that only happened once. My parents never hired a maid again and I thank them for doing that because we grew up by not having a servant whom we can always depend on. By not having someone who would do everything for you and when you grow up, you'll be obliged to do chores on your own. Since doing those is strange to you, you would find that hard and you can count that as one of the first world problems.
Maids take care of kids. (I was about to use the verb "raise") They do everything for them and when children get close to them, parents would get mad with the maids for being so clingy (hahaha). Of course, children would get hurt and then cry because their moms fired their maid. After that, the mom would do anything to get close to her children but they would still long for their maid because they've been used to her. Also, how could maids take care of their masters' children when they can't even watch theirs?

The film made me think how miserable a maid's life is. I mean, those who are abused up to the extent that their private hours are taken by their masters and treated as non-persons. Blow by blow commands? How could one do everything without resting even for an hour? I may not understand what they're feeling but I care for them. I also salute those masters who interact with their maids. Those who don't consider the financial status of a man and look unto them as ordinary people. //paalam
